In order to meet your campus dining needs, we have designed the following meal plans for the 2008-2009 academic year.  If you need to purchase a meal plan, or if you would like to make a change to the plan you have already selected, simply contact us.

Mandatory Meal Plans
Students who live on campus are required to purchase the Flex Plan. Exceptions to this are those residents who live in Bettie Johnson Hall, Minardi Hall, University Tower Apartments, and Medicial-Dental Apartments.

The cost per semester is $995 for First Year Students and $560 for upperclass students. The money is stored on the student ID card which can be used as a declining balance card at university dining locations. Students participating in the meal plan will get a 6% discount on retail prices. The cost for the meal plan will be automatically added to the student’s University account. Flex Plan balances will roll over from fall to spring semesters. All unspent flexi-cash at the end of the spring semester will be forfeited by the student.

Voluntary Meal Plans
Any student may purchase a voluntary meal plan. Students save 10% on the purchase of a voluntary meal plan of $25 or more. With the Cardinal Card, Kentucky's 6% sales tax is also waived.

• Pay $100, get $110 to spend!
• Pay $200, get $220 to spend!
• Pay $500, get $550 to spend!

Required Meal Plans

• All students living in on-campus residence halls without kitchens
  will have a $1,165 meal plan
• All students living in on-campus residence halls with kitchens
  will have a $745 meal plan
• All full-time undergraduate students on the Belknap Campus will
  have a $250 meal plan

Please keep this information in mind:

• Meal plan participants may carry over the balance on their meal cards to Spring 2009.
• Any carry over will be added to the spring charge and must be used before the end of the spring semester. Any balance remaining on the meal card at the end of the spring semester will be forfeited.
• Check your balance often at any food service register. Knowing your meal plan balance and planning ahead will decrease the chance you will forfeit any money.
• Residents, who feel the current meal plan does not meet their needs, may request a waiver from the plan. Waivers may be approved for medical or religious reasons, as well as, other extenuating circumstances where the food service is unable to meet an individual student's needs. To submit a waiver, complete a Waiver Request in the Housing Office. Students who applied for and received a waiver for fall will need to reapply for a spring waiver.
